can you try to maks out the trees from the background, shirt, and hair so only your skin has the tree texture? Give that a try... Make a mask and color on the mask with "fills," "selecting," and the "paintbrush."

Here I see an unreal looking girl with yellow eyes. The only color is in the eyes and the lips. There is a crazy use of texture using the trees. Great picture. Bit creepy

In this picture I see a lonely girl who is a vampire. Because it is only black and white the colored lips and eyes really stand out. T me I thought the trees were paint splatter to give the project some contrast, but trees are cool too. I love your creative series! -Claire
